WPS offers this guide to assist you in choosing the best handlebars and
handlebar riser system for your riding style, terrain, and machine
CHOOSING HANDLEBARS:
1. Decide which handlebar will best suit your riding style, snocross, mountain riding, freeriding, trail riding, freestyle.
2. For snocross, trail riding, boondocking, and freeriding, the Fly Racing Sno X, Sno X Race, Sno X Mountain bars
are recommended.
3. Fly Racing’s Sno X Race bar is engineered with hooks on the end of the bars. Sno X, Sno X Mountain bars, and
most other aluminum/ tapered style handlebars with a 14mm I.D. will accommodate the Fly Racing Aero Tapered
Handlebar Hooks. These install in the end of the handlebars for a flush type mount.
4. For advanced freeriding and freestyle, the Fly Freeride and Mini bend Aero tapered/Carbon Fiber snowmobile
bars are the choice of Fly Racing’s top athletes.
5. If you are installing the Fly Racing Aero Taper handlebars with a stock riser, you may need to install an oversized
universal clamp kit. Most OEM riser blocks are manufactured to accommodate 7/8” handlebars. The oversized
universal clamp kit will adapt any 7/8” system to a 1 1/8” handlebar.
6. If you have a pivot style steering post, the Fly Racing Adjustable or Fixed Height Tech risers are recommended.
With these risers, you may use either a standard 7/8” or 1 1/8” handlebar with no oversized adapter.
CHOOSING HANDLEBAR RISERS:
1. WPS also offers several different brands, heights, and types of risers. FLY Racing, AMP, Powermadd, Rox, and
SPI brands.
2. You need to know which type of steering post you have, pivot style or flat top style. Look at the top of the
steering post, the pivot style will have a pivot tube, the flat top will have a flat plate on top of the steering post.
3. Pivot style risers are widely recommended by the industry’s top athletes and riders, as there is a larger range of
adjustability to accommodate your riding style and handlebar placement.
4. Fly Racing’s Adjustable Tech risers and Rox Elite Series Adjustable risers will give you multiple heights to work
best with different riding styles. These risers give you the option of being able to adjust your handlebar height on
the trail giving you better control and comfort in multiple riding terrains.
5. If the machine has a flat top style steering post and you want to convert to a pivot style riser, you will need a Fly
Racing Double Pivot Post Adapter which will work with virtually any type of pivot style riser.
6. Some flat top steering posts are designed to put the handlebars closer to the rider moving the rider further
from the front of the machine. AMP and SPI offer angled risers which moves the rider closer to the front of the
machine offering better control and handling, especially in deep powder riding.
7. If installing Powermadd Pivot style risers, Powermadd pivot style adapters are required for installation.
8. Most machines will accommodate up to a 2” rise above the OEM height without any modifications to the brake
lines and throttle cables.
9. If raising your handlebars more than 2” above the OEM height, you will need a longer brake line and either a
longer throttle cable or throttle cable extension.
10. WPS offers SPI Extended Length Throttle cables, which is an economical OEM replacement that is 8” longer
than stock cables. This allows the rider to raise the handlebars up to 8” taller that the stock height. WPS also
offers Powermadd throttle cable extension kits that allow handlebars to be raised up to 10” total height.
11. FLY Racing and Powermadd extended length brake lines are also offered through WPS and will accommodate
your height requirements.
OTHER ITEMS NEEDED FOR INSTALLATION:
1. When installing handlebars, handwarmers and grips will often need to be replaced.
2. WPS offers several different types of handlebar warmers. SPI High Output Grip Warmers offer a 30-watt
warmer that is recommended for aluminum, tapered style handlebars, and colder weather riding. These are also
available in 2 styles, regular length and extended length for handlebars with aluminum hooks.
3. Many different grips are also available through WPS. Dirt bike/motocross style grips will not work on
snowmobiles. One grip has a larger I.D. for motorcycle throttle tubes. Snowmobile, ATV, bicycle, and watercraft
grips without flanges are recommended.
4. If you are using Fly Racing Aero Tapered style handlebars with hooks, or Aluminum style bars with aluminum
hooks installed, the ODI and SPI 8” grips as well as the Sportech Ultra grips are required.
