General Applications

EE

0.25-0.35 both temps

0.25% fade possible

at 600°F

This pad is not recommended for performance applications

as it shows poor C.F. in both cold and hot temps.

FE

0.35-0.45 at 250°F

0.25-0.35 at 600°F

2-44% fade possible

at 600°F

This pad is not recommended for performance applications.

Though it shows better C.F. in cold temperatures and has a

high possibility of brake fade at warm temps.

FF

0.44-0.45 both temps

0-22% fade possible

at 600°F

This pad is well suited for most conditions. It has minimal

fade at high temperatures and is good for performance

applications.

FG

0.44-0.45 at 250°F

0.45-0.50 at 600°F

Fade very rare

This pad is great for most conditions as it is softer than HH

rated pad and will bed quicker on worn discs. This rating is

good for performance applications.

GG 0.45-0.50 both temps

Fading very rare

This pad is great for most conditions as it is softer than HH

rated pad and will bed quicker on worn discs. This rating is

good for performance applications.

HH

0.55-0.65

Carbon/carbon only.

O.K. up to 3000°F

where it glows

Ideal for high performance motorcycles and race track use.

Inefficient in normal and cold operating conditions as they

fail to reach a good operating temperature.

SPI SEMI-METALIC

SPI FULL-METALIC

Continued on the next page

SPI continues to offer the best in aftermarket performance brake pads. When looking for brake pads, a big thing to

remember is the coefficient of friction rating for that pad. This is a 2 letter rating system (see graph below). The first

letter is the cold temp coefficient rating and the second letter is the hot temp coefficient. The higher the letters, the

higher the coefficient of friction.

SPI Semi-Metallic brake pads and shoes are composed of a Non-Asbestos, Semi-Metallic Carbon Kevlar aramid

fiber from DuPont and have a DOT rating of “FF”.

Our Full-Metal pads contain Copper, Carbon, Tin, Lead and other metallic elements and have a DOT rating of “FG”.
