HOWTO CALCULATE REQUIRED EXTENSION
Determine new track correct length:
Example 154 track is 54 pitches x 2.86” pitch = 154.44”
Determine existing track correct length: Example 144 track is 57 pitches x 2.52” pitch = 143.64”
Subtract existing track correct length from new track correct length. Difference = 10.80”
The correct difference must be divided by 2 to determine extension length
/ 2
The required axle extension length is
=
5.40”
NOTE:
If drive sprocket diameter is reduced, more axle extension will be required. The final factor that may require
more or less axle extension is the amount of shrinkage or stretch in the new track and the existing track.
