x X X X X 739 The SP1TM line of Hyperdryve® pistons are made from a space-age aluminum alloy which maintains its high tensile strength up to 700°F (380°C), 50% higher than a conventional cast piston. The high temperature resistance significantly improves fatigue strength and impact toughness, which means that we will keep you riding longer and harder than the competition. The new alloy, combined with our already existing techniques of anodizing the crowns, machine smoothed heads, and MOS2 coated skirts for smoother startups and break-ins, meets the demands for today’s high performance engines. Our pistons are designed and manufactured to OEM specifications. Please see your service manual or contact your local authorized OEM dealer for piston to cylinder-wall clearance, ring end gap, and installation instructions. The images below show two cast aluminum pistons that have been magnified to 1,000 nanometers. Both were soaked for 100 hours at 600° F (316°C) to simulate operating conditions. It’s easy to see that the conventional aluminum alloy’s particles coarsen significantly. Our new aluminum alloy still maintains twice the hardness of the conventional alloys.
