The code comprises three characters, two numbers and a letter, e.g. 67 H, known as a service description. The two-digit number is a code for the maximum load carrying capacity of the tire. The letter is a maximum speed rating indicating the maximum speed at which the tire may be used with maximum load when the maximum listed inflation pressure is used. Shinko Does not recommend or endorse exceeding the safe, legal speed limit. The load index/speed symbol indicates the speed at which the tire can carry a load corresponding to its load index under conditions specified by the tire manufacturer. SIZE CONVERSION TABLES: Use these tables to convert your older style inch size to the new style metric sizing. TIRE CONVERSION CHARTS WARNING • The information provided by WPS Inc. regarding tire and size information does not imply fitment or suggest interchangeable tire size compatibility with your specific motorcycle. Always consult your owner’s manual to verify exact front and rear tire size including but not limited to; load rating, speed rating, tube type, construction (radial/bias), air pressure recommendations. Installation of incorrect tire size, construction type and load/speed ratings can cause handling issues which could result in personal injury or death. • Only trained professionals should install (unmount/mount) and balance tires. • All newly installed On-Road street motorcycle tires must be used with caution during the first 100 miles. Avoid excessive acceleration, breaking and steep lean angles during the “scrub-in” period of any new street tire. • Check tire pressure regularly. Consult vehicles owner’s manual or side wall of tire for air pressure (PSI) recommendations. Operating a tire below or above the recommended air pressure (PSI) can result in abnormal tire wear and could cause tire failure resulting in personal injury or death. • Be sure to observe the rotation direction of front and rear tires. • Motorcycle tires need to be replaced when the main tread patches meet the wear bar or TWI (Tread Wear Indicator). TIRE CONSTRUCTION 1. “Radial” describes a pneumatic tire structure in which the ply cord material extends from bead-to-bead crossing the center line of the tire at a 90 degree angle. The carcass is then secured with an inextensible belt positioned around the circumference of the tire. 2. “Bias Belted” describes a pneumatic Bias tire structure in which the carcass is restricted by a circumferential belt comprised of two or more layers of cord material. 3. “Bias” describes a pneumatic tire structure in which the ply cord material extends from bead-to-bead in varying (crisscross) angles, substantially less than 90 degrees to the center line of the tire.
