Chrome, phosphate and nitride coatings are also used to meet the demands of the application. Oil rings consist of three separate components. Two scraper rails constructed from highly ductile cast iron or a stainless steel alloy and also have a chrome, nitride, or phosphate coating. The single expansion ring is manufactured from stainless steel. Our bearings are manufactured from SCM415 steel and treated using a process called carbon nitriding; this enhances the fatigue strength and heat dissipating capacity of the cage. We also felt we needed to fancy them up so we coated them with silver (yes, real silver) to help prevent lubrication failure during operation. These include everything you need to get you operational again; they come with pistons, a top end gasket kit and bearings where needed.
